How to change vision program filename permissions

  1. Connect to the IMPACT Device with Telnet
  2. Log in to the device with the username zzz
  3. Change to the Vision Program folder with the command
    cd VisionPrograms
  4. List the files (and permissions) with the command:
ls -l (Note: use the letter "l", not the number "1")
  5. Any files with an "x" in the permissions must be changed with this command (filename.vp is the name of the desired file):
    chmod 666 filename.vp
  6. The "666" part of the command changes the filename permissions to rw (read/write) according to this structure:

    4
    2
    1

Owner: Read Write Execute rwx --- ---
Group: Read Write Execute --- rwx ---
Others: Read Write Execute --- --- rwx
  7. After the permissions have been changed they will be listed as rw- rw- rw- in the file listing.
  8. You must now copy the changed files from the vision device to the client so the permissions will be correct the next time you upload them to the device.
